Keeping Windows Up To Date



It is very important to keep the Windows operating system up to date on your VPS. We suggest checking for and installing any available updates 2-3 times per month to insure that your VPS continues to run smoothly.

It is important to note that most updates will require you to reboot your VPS, so updating during the weekend maybe the best option to avoid any downtime during trading hours. Below we will show you how to check and install updates on your VPS, as well as adjust update settings.

How To Install Windows Updates On Your VPS:

Step 1:

Open the Windows Control Panel, click "System and Security" at the top left hand of the screen, and you should see a screen that looks like the following. Click "Windows Update". 



Step 2:

On this page you will have the option to check for new Windows updates and then install them manually if you do not have automatic updating enabled on your VPS.




How To Adjust Your Windows Update Settings:


Step 1: 

Open the Windows Control Panel, click "System and Security" at the top left hand of the screen, and you should see a screen that looks like the following. Click "Turn automatic updating on or off".




Step 2: 

On this screen you will be able to select the best updating option that works best for you. Once you have selected your preferred updating method make sure to click ok at the bottom of the screen so save your choice.
